Borobudur Buddhist Temple Tour |

The tour can be started at 8am
departing from the hotel directly to the temple. The
trip takes around 45 minutes and will drop the visitor
on the parking area before the temple. From the parking
area one has to walk around 300 meters to reach the
hill where the temple is standing in pride. Starting
from the first gallery one see one by one panels with
carving of bas relief and some stone sculptures up to
the last gallery where the sculptures of the Bodhistwa
are plenty in the stupa and outside stupa. An old inventory
said the the temple recorded 500 statues in all the
area. From the temple the surrounding and the Merapi
volcano give very beautiful panorama. On the way back
to the city visit will also be done to smaller Hindu
temple such as Candi Pawon and Candi Mendut. The existence
of Buddhist Candi as big as Borobudur side by side with
Hindu Candis giving and indication that in the past
the people were very knowledgeable that they accept
the differentiation and could manage themselves as a
true appreciater of the art and culture. Borobudur itself
was a long project construction started from the year
of 742 until 824 according to the king charter found
at Medang Kemulan village. Lunch can be served at local
restaurant near the city of Yogyakarta before drop to
the hotel. |

The tour to Borobudur temple is not only for normal
day tour, but it can be arranged also for enjoying sun
rise on the temple. Many people asked this type of tour
as they are really enjoy the panorama. If the tour is
organized for the sun rise it must be started very early
around 4.30 AM departing from the hotel. Driving in the
early morning will take faster to the temple, yet one
choose more to have overnight at at Manohara hotel located
on the area of Borobudur temple, so they can walk from
the hotel to the temple in a good time. During Buddhist
Waisak Day it is not possible to get room in this hotel,
even some hotels in Magelang city which is around 3
kms from the temple will also fully booked. The situation
will last for normally 3 days as the ritual at Borobudur
temple finished. During the rituals normally not only
Buddhist who come and participating the ceremony, but
also important people of Moslem, Hindu, and Kong Fu
Tsu will also joint the procession. It is truly hard
to find rooms during that period. |
