Ijen Crater is so popular among French nationalities much
more then Bromo Mountain. The existence of Mount Ijen
has been a blessing to the people living around the
foot of the area. First is the economic value of the
sulphur. There are many generations already who work
as the miner of the sulphur on the crater of the mountain
transported down on their shoulder for further process
in Surabaya. This work has been their blood for years.
While the people down on the slope and plain land have
been a crop growers including rice, coffee cacao coconut,
and various short and long live plantations. The view
around the foot of the mountain is really a breathtaking
moment. Today with the establishment of a resort called
Ijen Resort closed to the foot of the mountain from
where people can start the trekking the location become
more comfortable to visit. Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo
are the most valuable natural heritages of East Java.
