Ayung River is the longest river in Bali, starting from the mountain chain of central Bali flows on to the beach of Sanur. Along the highland the river got many flows from other smaller rivers that drop on it as tributaries until it become a big river in Bali. But the more it closer to lowland almost a large part of it's water was blocked by the farmer and led to their rice field for irrigation. So, actually when the water reaches the ocean it become very small amount of water. Ayung river is considered the holy river by central Balinese people, and in the past according to the story many people were died on the river just because they were not able to swim and cross the river to other side, or suddenly unappreciated flood was flowing from the inner part of the river. Along Ubud area on the east slope of the river is full of hotels and bungalows using the beautiful gorges views of the river.
