Jimbaran beach is located between Kuta and the foot of Bali island,
this is like a bottle neck that getting small but suddenly gettinglarger on the foot,
located on the west part of narrow land between Bali mainland and southern Bali. Jimbaran village at
the beginning was a fisherman village, consist of Jimbaran traditional village and Kedongan village.
Both village was famous for their product of salted fish that was supplied to the whole area of Bali.
Other than fishing the local people also grow coconut, and rice field has not possible to the area
due to lack of water source. In this discussion we include the west part of Bali foot such as village
of Ungasan and Pecatu, up to the area of Uluwatu temple
Jimbaran Beach is consist of a very fine white beach facing Indian ocean
with strong and high sea waves. Due to the strong current the waternever look clean, and always mixed
white subtle sand granulation. But when the current and wave are calm the sea looks beautiful with blue
turquois colour. As probably the main current line it looks that the sea never calm and only during
the dark night. As other part of Kuta, Jimbaran beach before 1980s was a nice unspided beach with here
and there various shrubs shading the white sandy beach. The beach of Kedongan, northern beach of
Jimbaran has been known as the anchorage places of fishing boats from east java. Everyday around 9
o'clock in the morning dozens of fishing boats disembark their fish on the beach for an auction or
wholesale transaction. Until now village of Jimbaran and Kedongan still manage a business of fish
wholesale called "Koperasi Unit Desa " whom usually buy the fish from the fisherman.
Wholesalers from Denpasar or other parts of Bali usually buy from the koperasi. The writer was
often come to Jimbaran just to by fresh fish from the local people which price is not normal got
from the people who work a the transporter of the fish from the boat to the koperasi. Other
magnificent view from Jimbaran beach is the airport which extends from main land deep into the sea.
When the day change into the dark the sparkling lights along the man made peninsula is a kind
of children toys.
