Solo city is often reffered as the sister city of Yogyakarta. In the history of Central Java sultanate that the ruling family of Hindu Mataram kingdom was the source of both the Sultan in Yogyakarta and the Sultan in Solo. During Dutch periode the Sultanate of Mataram after changed themselves into Islam was broken into Kasunan Solo and Kesultanan Yogyakarta. The partition of this Kesultanan was not without war which at last decided to divide the kingdom. So that both Solo and Yogyakarta actually inherite the same culture. Only for Solo the doctrine of Islam has been more deeper compared to Yogyakarta. Despite the continuation of Palace tradition, but still much more festive in Yogyakarta compared to the Kasunanan Palace in Solo. It doesn't mean that Solo is totally not intesting for visitor, one of their ancestor's tradition which Islam can not delete from the memory of the people is the art, especially Batik art, tradition in the Palace, and some traditional dances which still continues. This is also as unlimited source for local people to attract people from other countries to visit their city, although certain group of Islam do not like foreign people. Since the very basic of Indonesian people spirit most of their people keep their hostpitality toward visitors and this giving advantage to the developement of the economy and attracted people to build many hotels from medium class hotels to deluxe hotels within the city of Solo
