Sanur is now a town on the east coast of Denpasar city, an area along the beach stretching around 8 kms by 3 kms. At the northern bordering with the area of Tohpati with its beach called Padang Galak. The beach is mixed of black sand and cliff and nearer to Sanur the beach was filled with lime stone beach reclamation at the north of Grand Bali Beach Hotel. Starting from this hotel the beach has white yellowish sand up to southern border before the re of Benoa harbor. On this stretch of the beach that found hotels and Sanur villas. There are not many villas in Sanur area, since the beginning of the development, that was in 1965, when first 5 star hotel the Grand Bali Beach was built.

Along the area parallel with the beach run 2 main roads that are Danau Tamblingan street, near the beach and Ngurah Rai street in the middle of the town along which one can find many offices of tour operators, transports, and other bigger companies, while along Danau Tamblingan street are hotels and Sanur Villas, retail shops, bank, and restaurants. Sanur has great variation of accommodation starting from budget hotels up to 4 to 5 star hotels such as Grand Bali Beach, Bali Hyatt, Sanur Beach and Puri Santrian. One of specific character of Sanur as a resort is the area look more spatial, high trees shading every places, location of accommodation is a distance from main road of Danau Tamblingan street. The access from Danau Tamblingan to respective hotels or villas in Sanur is belong to the owner of the accommodation respectively, so it is more private situation.

Villas in Sanur can be found in the middle of the town or closer to the beach area such as Mertasari or Blanjong Beach which is more southern part of the area. Since there are not many villas in Sanur, one choose more standard hotel or higher hotel style accommodation. Travelers from Europe or America choose to stay more in Sanur or Nusa Dua compared to any other places on south Bali as Sanur is considered still more natural Bali with still villages along the central area. Until today traffic in the area of Stand still do not meet any problem or jump, so to move every where is no objection both within Sanur and outside Sanur. Deposer city with its various big shopping centers is only 6 kms from north Sanur, and 10 kms from southern Sanur area.one can still enjoy the local transportation without air conditioning called "angkot' which can be stop and go every where along its route.
