SEMINYAK TOWN THE NEIGHABOUR OF KUTA

Seminyak town is part of current Kuta city bordered by the town of Legian. In the past the area of Seminyak was under the administration of Desa Kuta. A Desa is a unit of settlements consists of many Banjar, and the Banjar is the smallest unit of traditional administrative settlements. Together with Legian Seminyak was formerly only a fishing village until 1970s, although in 1839 for the first time Kuta was opened for the international trade and become connected to other parts of Indonesia especially Surabaya, the second biggest city in Indonesia today. The opening of Kuta as the basis of trade on south Bali was the beginning of the spread of the beauty of Kuta. The establishment of foreign trade representative in Kuta also gave an impact to Seminyak as the neighabour of Kuta city and starting 1950s, the village has become popular area for developing resorts or any type of accommodations. Until late 2000, the town of Seminyak was the most difficult place to be accessed by car due to the narrow street and difficult development of the road construction, while during Balinese Hindu ceremony a tradition of processions are still going on and giving a hard burden to the narrow road. Today, with the opening of Sunset road and the pedestrian road along the beach of Seminyak can ease the traffic along the main road from southern Kuta through Legian, Seminyak and Krobokan. Although for some hotel within the town of Legian will never be able to reach by mini bus with seat more then 15.
