Bali has 2 beautiful mountain resorts, one is Bedugul Mountain with Beratan Crater, and two is Kintamani Mountain Resort with beautiful Batur Crater. What makes Bedugul is very much different from Kintamani area is the tropical plantation which density is almost 100 percent from the area of Kintamani. It is called that the area of Bedugul as the Evergreen mountain area. The location of Bedugul is just on the ridge of Bali mountain chain which runs straightly from westip to the east tip of Bali island. It was a result of tremendous eruption in the past that making the peak of the mountain devastated and thrown to the surrounding and left a wide crater which is very much lower then the surrounding. Along the crater which is aroung 8 kms in the form of triangle there are 3 lakes with the biggest is lake Beratan, followed by lake Tamblingan, and lake Buyan. On the northern rim of the crater now is the highland cultivation known with their flower production for local market. Along the west side of lake Beratan are traditional village of Candi Kuning, Panca Sari, and Batusesa. Since the 1920s Bedugul has been a popular place for local people for a sightseeing especially for the students and nearby villages during ritual holiday, eventhough at that time people walking dozens of kilomenters until the construction of the road that connect south Bali - Bedugul - and north Bali in 1945. It was long after the first contruction of the road until it was able to be used to drive a car from Denpasar to Singaraja. At the beginning of the development of Bedugul and surrounding area in 1960s people built smallbungalows for weekend and as a place for overnight on their way from Denpasar to Singaraja by mounting horses especially for the traders of agricultural products such as coffee for which Bali was well known at that time.
