Location
The name Bedugul refers to an area around the crater central mountain chain which is as wide as the crater of Batur. This crater has the form almost resembling a half circle with the length more then 10 kms and width 2 kms. Starting from the southern border of lake Beratan northward with consecutive lakes such as lake Bulian, lake Tamblingan, and one smaller lake located at the westernmost edge of the crater now drained out of water. Could not be imagine how tremendous damage was created by the explosion with such a wide crater million years ago. On this crater there are many villages starting from the southern part are Desa Kandang, known with its' highland vegetable and flower market, Botanical Garden with it's hundreds of plant species and a popular weekend refuge for central Balinese, and the beach of Bedugul with good accommodation and available many activities on the lake water activities. Next is Desa Candi Kuning with many villages with the name of flowers such as Mekar Sari, Kemuning, and others, and here are also exist Muslim village. Here can be found many small accommodation along the road and at inner part of the villages. Next is Pancasari village known to have best view of the area with some good hotels such as Enjung Beji and Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club, and popular temple for foreign visitors, Ulun Danu, around which are water activities can be organized such as fishing, paddling, canoeing, water scooter, and speed boat ride. All this areas are often called in short as Bedugul which is located 59 kms from Denpasar city.

Interest of Bedugul
For most foreign visitors Bedugul is known for Vegetable Market, Ulun Danu Temple, Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club and its accommodation with beautiful panorama, and the trekking activities at the slope of Lake Buyan wall.

Vegetable Market known also as Pasar Kandang, is one of the most complete highland vegetable market with many type of highland green vegetable products, flowery, and greenery. Product such as cabbage, potatoes, corn, juices, bean, onion, marquisas, and many others. Actually most of the products are cultivated around Baturiti area, 3 kms before Bedugul which altitude is lower then Begudul, while flowers are produced locally with various type and sizes. During week end or public holidays this market is full from early morning up to the evening as the people passing the area on their journey from Denpasar to Singaraja or contrary will stop at the market to buy any product especially the vegetable and the fruits, and some buy greenery or flowery on pot. The location of Bedugul which is more then 1000 meters above sea level makes the area is very interesting place to relax get fresh air with cold temperature.

Botanical Garden just 1 km north of the vegetable market is the Botanical Garden with beautiful scenery men made garden under shading of trees and ferns typical of high place. This botanical garden was opened in 1959 and has 154,5 hectares with more then 1187 plants, 320 types of orchids from various areas of Indonesia, birch trees of around 524 types from America, China, Japan, Australia, Africa and Netherlands. A Cyathea garden with various type of ferns, some of which are edible for Balinese and are popular cuisine material just like other vegetables. 104 type of Cactuses from various countries, and 94 plants relating to religious ritual of Balinese, and 84 type of plants used as traditional medicine by Balinese. Many type of orchids can be visited around the area and very beautiful during its flowering season. Most companies in Denpasar or Singaraja will use this place as a company holiday or any activities to build up the relation among the employees and their family. Such outing activity was so famous for most of the companies staff and management with various activities both as fun or health practices or just relaxing moment for their families. From Botanical Garden there is also a good trek to the mount Pohan slope or just taking a level trek to reach the southern bank of lake Bulian passing jungle, vegetable farm, and traditional villages with beautiful panorama of the central Bali mountain ridges. School children will use Botanical Garden as the main object of study trip especially in relation with the study of biology and environment.

Pantai Bedugul known for its good accommodation of Begugul cottages which is now very old property, and the new one constructed just on the beach of the lake is like a normal hotel. From here many water activities are organized such as fishing, paddling, canoeing, water parachuting, or encircling the lake with speed boat.

Pura Ulun Danu is the most popular visit for foreign visitors, a temple located on the bank of the lake, and some pavilion standing in the water. This temple, according to the chronicle of Mengwi kingdom was built by the first king of Mengwi, I Gusti Ngurah Putu around 1634 as the thanks God for his victory against his rival around the area, or in more correct assumption it might be aimed as Mountain temple of a kingdom, in conjunction with 3 temples belong to the state. The temple is consist of 2 different section. The biggest section is Hindu temple, and at the front is Buddhist temple. The Hindu temple section is consist of many pavilions in the form of normal temple construction and the Pagoda like Merus. On the northern border of this temple is the best available accommodation in Bedugul that is Enjung Beji Resort, directly located and facing the lake. From here one also can organized outing with various activities on land or water.

Panca Sari is a village with bigger traditional market and a famous golf course of Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club. The course with good 4 star hotel is located just at the drop of crater east wall with the high peak of Mount Mangu. The whole wall is evergreen ridges and peaks covered by the smoke every morning or during the rainy season. Golf course is a 18 holes with the most beautiful panorama and cold temperature, colorful flowers and green garden. The course is often host golf tournaments both local, national and international. Compared to other golf courses in Bali, Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club gives fresh and cold air making the golfing such a pleasant moment.

Lake Bulian, known also as lake Buyan is a famous place for trekking and off-roading, combined with trekking and rowing outrigger. On the bank of this lake there is an old temple with unique architecture. The environment of this lake is still preserved with good condition, some places even called virgin. Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club
It is a beautiful golf courses located between two mountains peaks and between lake Beratan and lake Bulian. The panorama on the course is breathaking, especially during the morning and evening.
